I work 12 hour night shifts at FMH. I rode into work like I always do and secured my bike at the bike rack at the main entrance. It was also locked with a U-lock. When my shift ended I came out to ride home and my bike was gone. Security and Fairbanks Police took reports and security videos are being reviewed. I am the mother of two small children and my bike was my primary mode of transportation. It was not a super expensive bike but it was mine and I cannot afford to replace it. It had an Alaska Autism Society tag on it with my name and address (yes, my kids have special needs), a black wire basket on the left side and the seat was customized. There was also some rust on the screws that secured the hand brakes. The bike is a maroon "Savannah" hybrid. I don't even know why I'm posting this. Maybe to warn people that locks aren't enough to protect you?
